Winterport Open Stage Presents “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!”

What do you get when you combine the worst kids in the world with a Sunday School Christmas play? Winterport Open Stage’s holiday production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!

Based on the book by Barbara Robinson, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever tells the story of the Herdman children, better known as the “worst kids in the world.” After visiting church for the first time, the children are given roles in the Sunday School’s Christmas play, and, much to the dismay of the other church members, proceed to tell the story of Christmas in their own, unconventional fashion.

The Bradley parents are played by Reed Farrar and Colette Sabbagh, with Autumn Hobbs as Beth Bradley, and Kjell Vikberg as Charlie Bradley. Matt Southard, Sara Reynolds, Calvin Curtis, Chloe Hart, Caleb March, and Rachel Palmer make up the troublesome ensemble of Herdman children. Various churchgoers, angels, children, and reverends are played by Mayako Brown, Theresa Curtis, Stephanie Vikberg, Anne Tatgenhorst, Cassy Palmer, Jerdon Kiesman, Samantha Siemerling, Rebecca Simerling, Abby March, and Jim Tatgenhorst.

“There’s someone in the show that everyone can connect with,” says Autumn Hobbs, who plays Beth Bradley. “Everybody in the crowd will be able to connect with one of the characters.”

Directed by Jenny Hart, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever marks Winterport Open Stage’s first-ever holiday production.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever runs at Wagner Middle School in Winterport December 4, 5, 11, 12 at 7:00 p.m., and December 6 & 13 at 3:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $8, while student and senior 20151123_184635tickets are $6.

“It’s just a fun, family-friendly comedy with a holiday flare,” says Colette Sabbagh, who portrays Mrs. Bradley. “This is going to be a great show for families.”
